It was worth the waiting finally we got married last week on the k1 visa (L) . Now i am filling all the papers needed for the next step AOS/ green card.

I want to use my husbands name but on my passport and k1 file is my maiden name. I would like to have my husbands name on my green card. Has anybody did this before how do i deal with this do i use my maiden name on the forms or do i use my husbands name ?

Fill out the application in the name you want on the GC--i.e. your married name. Once you get the EAD or GC you will have an easier time changing your name. The SSA is hit or miss on being able to change your name with the Marriage Certificate and your existing SSA card. Just remember that when travelling internationally to book the tickets in your maiden name (i.e. passport name) and carry a copy of the marriage certificate so you can prove that you are one and the same person to airline employees.

Good luck,

Dave

if you took your husband's last name when you got married, then all the paperwork for AOS should be in your married name. that's how i did it, and i did not encounter any problems. we just got back from europe a couple of days ago, and my passport is still in my maiden name and green card in married name. no issues whatsoever :) best of luck! message me if you have any questions, i'd be more than happy to help :):)
