Originals vs copies

Hi,

My husband filed for marriage-based naturalization. The interview is next week and we just realized that we've misplaced the original copies of our marriage certificate and his divorce decree. We have photocopies. Do you think this will be a problem? If so, would they just send us an RFE asking for the originals?

From reading the boards, it seems like there's a huge variance in what the IOs want to see in the interviews, so I appreciate any feedback!

Thanks!

If you can't get the originals in time for the interview, bring the copies and be prepared to tell them at the interview that you are in the process of getting the originals. And apply for the originals ASAP.

You should be able to pick up extra copies of your marriage certificate from the place you registered. I just recently picked up extra certified copies of our marriage certificate and my birth certificate. It does cost money but it can be done right there and then in the registers office, no waiting time. Not sure if you're in the UK or US though, I'm in the UK and that's how easy it was for me.

Not so sure about the divorce decree though,

Good luck :)
