Hi People

I have my K1 visa interview at New delhi consulate next week. I have a secondary proof for birth certificate which is my school record and it clearly shows my date of birth, name of both the parents and seal of issuing authority. Would this secondary proof enough as i dont have a birth certificate issued from the municipal authority and it would be difficult to fetch it from there as it is in a different city. I am really worried and confused for this as i have this secondary certificate in addition to my passport. usually in india the school certificate is considered as a birth certificate everywhere.. Please advise.

Birth certificate is a proof for your citizenship, while school certificates are not. That is a big different.

US Embassy doesn't accept school certificate as an alternate for birth-certificate. Like you said it is in a different city, thats mean your birth is registered somewhere. You must go there and collect it. If you are unable to obtain before your interview date, then you will be issued 221g to submit the birth-certificate.

You'll need the birth certificate I believe. Try to find someone in the different city you need your BC from who can get it for you if you give them a copy of School certificates. Hopefully you still know people in that place and they can recommend someone reliable.
