Consulate Review: New Delhi, India
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : February 20, 2013
Embassy Review : Hi Guys

So my K1 visa was approved on 13 feb 2013 at the new delhi consulate and i want to write a review of my experience.
As per the new process i never recieved any packet 3 or 4. My NOA2 was approved way back in Dec 6,2012 but somehow my interview was not scheduled. On 1 Feb i checked on the Feb appointments and i found my case scheduled for an interview on 13 Feb. So i asked the ustraveldocs people to send my appointment letter for the interview so i can go for the medicals.
So i went to the US consulate in new delhi on 13 feb 2013 at 725 in the morning. They asked people to wait outside the consulate and allowed entry only 30 mins before the interview time. I entered the embassy at 8 am and after security checks i was issued a token. I went in and was seated in front of the counters. There are a lot of counters for other non immigrants visas but only 2 for immigrants visas so its a lot slower process. I got my biometrics done after a while and then was told to wait for some time. Then i was called to another counter where i guess a VFS guy( as he was an indian) greeted me. He took out my I129F pacakge that must have been sent over by USCIS from USA and then asked me for all my documents and arranged them. i had pretty much everything so he arranged everything in place and asked me to wait for my turn for the interview. The important thing here is the Birth certificate from the municipality and the PCC certificate from the Passport office. You need to have this or else they will certainly give you 221g. I was waiting at the counter and saw several people being told to go through mandatory AP processing for minimum one month or 221g where additional info or documents were required. 90% of them did not either one of the documents so that will make you understand the importance of them. I was waiting patiently until i guess 1130 am and it was becoming too much for me as i was getting worried and worried thinking about the 221g and AP processing. I was told to come on the counter around 1130 where a white american girl greeted me. She was very nice and calm. She interviewed me for about 20 mins and asked me several questions. Mine was an interracial case so i was a bit more tensed as i have heard people here on VJ saying that New Delhi consulate is the worst consulate and interracial couples have all the red flags. Anyways she asked me how did we met, what she did,how come we got engaged, why did we filed for k1 and want to get married in USA. I answered all her questions. she asked me if there was a engagement ceremony and a big party. i told her it was a small party with my immediate family and my best friend. I showed her the album that had the pics of my engagement and our trips together to Goa and Agra. She was more interested to look at our pics from the engagement and my family asked who all were there in the album. Then she asked me that she is a white girl and why she wants to marry an indian man to which i answered that she calls herself a white indian girl and she is very much interested in our culture and has hindu faith now. i showed her a pic where my fiancee was wearing a locket of the holy "OM" written on the locket and she was convinced. Then she asked me what i did and have i ever been to USA before. I told here that yes i have been there 3 times before and i am a skilled worker. Also i have managed to get a job transfer to USA and i can start working once i get work authorization. i told her that i have been offered 72k dollars for it. After listening this she asked me which company i work for and how long i have been there. I am a highly skilled IT professional (SAP FICO Consultant)and have already got the transfer to USA from my company once i get the work authorization. After listening to this she immediately told me that you case has been approved and your visa is issued. you can collect you passport in 3to 5 working days. I was so excited to listen this as there was no delays and me and my fiancee have been waiting for so many months nowfor all this. I thanked her and told that this would be the best valentines day gift for us and she would be awake right now. She told me that go and give her a call and smiled. My overall experience was very good but have to say that the process is a little slow at the embassy and it frustrates and makes people more tensed looking at all the denials in front of you.Overall the consulate officers were really nice to me and did not judged me on my relationship with a white girl. I had tonnes of documentation with me(1200 pages of chat history, lot of emails,my video call history for virtually every day since june, our gchats and plenty more) but she did not wanted to see it. i asked her too if she wants to see anything more but she said no thats enough. Talk to them with confidence and you should sail through.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
