Ecuador - interview dates

Hey everybody!

My husband and I are currently living in Ecuador while waiting for his visa to come through, and even though we're still waiting for our assortment of numbers to be assigned at NVC, we have all the paperwork ready and waiting to be sent and are hopeful for a short NVC journey. My question is: after your case at NVC was completed, did you have to wait a long time for your interview? I've been told by MANY that the interview is usually around a month after your case gets completed at NVC - but looking at Ecuadorian timelines, I've noticed that the grand majority have had to wait at least TWO months. Not surprising considering how efficient our friends at the Guayaquil consulate are - but has that been the case for most, or is it just the few timelines I've looked at? My husband and I are aiming to be home before my birthday on April 30th, but if it's going to take two and a half months for them to give us an interview date, who knows when we'll be home! I'm starting to get discouraged and feel like this stupid process is never going to end! Any thoughts?

You might want to e-mail the (ugh) consulado and ask. They're pretty good about responding, which is about all that I can credit them with. I typically got a response in 72 or 48 hours. Let us know, si man.

well my nvc case was completed January 9th 2013 and we got our interview for march 6 2013

maybe its just me but mine is also approx. in the 2 month wait period counting the month the case was closed

Ugh, that's what I thought. Most of the Ecuadorian cases I saw had to wait around that time. Assuming (fingers crossed!) my NVC case gets completed mid-February, that means I wouldn't get an interview until at least mid-April, and then we'd have to wait for them to actually send us the visa (assuming we'd get approved... I saw a LOT of "denied" cases on the timelines, which made me more nervous ). Everything up to now has been pretty straightforward, but all this "dealing with the consulate" nonsense is making me nervous!

I'm thinking I'm going to just go ahead and email the consulate to see what they say. Thanks for the advice!

They did reply rather quickly! Sent the email on Wednesday, got an answer this morning! Granted, it wasn't very helpful:

Thank you for your message. The time frame is not always the same, it will depend if the documentation is complete. The approval/deny a petition is handled by Citizenship and Immigration office in the United States. The Immigrant Visa appointments are given automatically online or by phone, most of the time it takes a month.
