I-765 question

Hello, I'm new to the forum and hope I can find the help I need here. I recently got married to a U.S. citizen. I was born in Ecuador and came to the states with a tourist visa in 1996, when I was 12. I'm filling out all my paperwork for change of status, and I think I have a fairly good grip on what I need to do, but I do have couple of questions:

1. Is it recommended that I file an I-765 along with my I-485 and I-130?

2. Part 16 of the I-765 - "Who may file form I-765" asks to find my eligibility category. However, I can't find one that applies directly. The closest I can find is (6)(b), which states, "K-3 Nonimmigrant spouse of U.S. citizen", except I don't have a K-3 visa. I have a B-2. Any suggestions on what I should put here?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I want to get this done as quickly as possible, as I'm sure everyone here understands. Tips and past experiences are welcome as well!

1) There is no charge, and you can get a social security number using the granted EAD even if you do not intend to work until your green card is approved, so there is really no downside.

Another question: the link w ww.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2 states that I should send form I-693 along with my I-485 package, but further down the page it states,

"Your spouse may also be required to have a medical sometime during the AOS process. The medical must be done by a CIS accredited doctor. Your CIS office should give you a list of CIS accredited doctors in your area, if not check with your local office to get one."

Are they referring to the same thing? Is I-693 something I need to send in right away or is it something I will be asked to submit later on?

Yes it is the same thing. If you do not submit a sealed I-693 with your original application then you will be RFE'd for it, slowing down the processing of your case.

Great! I'm glad I found this forum with knowledgeable people - much better than having to pay an immigration attorney.

You mentioned that filing the I-765 is free, but it says there's a $380 filing fee and I don't seem to fit the description for any of the exemptions. Am I missing something?
