Hello VJ!!!

My fiance received his packet 3 in the mail in Haiti at his home on January 14, 2013. In the contents of the packet they are requesting from him that he include when returning the packet to Haiti messenger

“Excerpt from the National Archives of the Act of Birth of the Applicant”

“Excerpt from the National Archives of the Act of Birth of the Guarantor” Can you please explain to me what this is? Is it just a Birth Certificate? Or is ti some other documents? what is the Guarantor??? This is the first I have seen this request in this whole process.

Thank you for your help,

It is basically telling you that your fiance will need his or her birth certificate, and that can be obtained from the Haitian Nationa Archives.

is it the same birth certificate that we had to send into the USCIS with the I-129f packet? Or a different form of certificate?

and what is

Excerpt from the National Archives of the Act of Birth of the Guarantor??? Is that me? or someone else??

Are they just asking from my birth certifcate?

thanks for the help!

The archive extracts are proof that the original document was registered. So your fiance needs the birth certificate extract to show that his birth certificate is legitimate. It does take time to get the extracts, but it shouldn''t take three months! I think it took us about a week or so to get our marriage license extract. Also, if he has an ID card, I'm pretty sure he already had to get the extract at some point.

Also, there are some things listed in the packet 3 that not everyone needs, it's just if you have them you provide them (divorce papers, death certificates, etc).
