My husband just got his birth certificate (FINALLY). I asked him if it's the long form birth certificate, since that's what I have read on here. He says "They said nothing like long form. We did the original birth declaration with the affidavit from the high court Owerri, Imo State." Do any of you know if this is correct, or what exactly he needs to look for on the form to make sure it will be accepted. Is it his full name, place, date of birth and both his parents names? Any input would be appreciated. I want to make sure he has the correct documents before he heads back to Ghana.

He needs to go to the national population commission office in his state of birth and tell them he wants a birth certificate for the embassy. He will need to take an affidavit of age declaration from the court and 2 passport photographs, he will also need to pay some money to get it processed. I paid N3,500 but i dont know if this is the same for other states. He needs to go and find out, any other birth certificate will be acceptable elsewhere but will not be acceptable by the embassy.

With God all things are possible!

Thank you so much for your helpful reply. He did take the birth affidavit from the high court to the National Population Commission in Imo State. They gave him the birth attestation there. I am SO excited that he's finally getting the documents we need for the final step at the NVC. We've been waiting a long time...
