Question about i-864

Well, me and my wife are getting to the end of the pile of documents for her AOS. Thankfully we haven't hit any stumbling blocks as the information on this forum has been immensely helpful in filling out the forms. However, I did want to check something to make sure I understand the instructions correctly.

After we got married my wife moved in with my mom and me as both my wife and I are unemployed (I signed an offer with a firm a couple of months ago but won't start until the fall). Since I don't have any income, my sister-in-law will be the "main" sponsor. Here are my two questions:

1. Am I correct in reading the instructions in that even though I am unemployed I need to fill out a i-864 since I am the petitioner?
   
2. Even though my sister-in-law's individual income is more than enough to meet the requirements, since she files taxes jointly with my brother will she need to include an i-864a as well for him even though she doesn't need to list his income on 24b?

1. Yes, both of you will fill out an I-864

2. No. Only if she needs to use your brother's income to be able to sponsor does he need to fill a form out as well. I personally asked this question to NVC. If she makes enough on her own, only she and you will be filling out the I-864.

One more question, even though I haven't had any income since May of 2012 (total income for 2012 was around $600), and have roughly $100 in my checking account, do I still need to include copies of my tax returns for 2009-2011 and complete Part 7, "Use of assets to supplement income"?

Oh, forgot to also ask, my sister-in-law sponsored her mother (who currently lives with her) with a previous i-864 but her mother is now a permanent resident. Should she include her mother in her household size? The checkbox reads "If you have sponsored any other persons on an I-864 or I-864 EZ who are now lawful permanent residents, enter the number here"

Yes, she needs to add her mother.

Even though you didn't make much last year, you still have to send in your tax information. Call the IRS and order tax TRANSCRIPTS for the past 3 years (they are FREE!!!).

And yes, sucks that the Bears couldn't make the playoffs but I felt really assured listening to Emery's press conference yesterday. Seems like the first GM we've had in a long time that is genuine and doesn't just give lip service.

One more question though, since I am technically not sponsoring my wife, in Part 3 where it says "I am sponsoring the principal immigrant named in Part 2 above" should I check Yes or No? The no option says it should only be checked in the case of two joint sponsors but my sister-in-law will be the only joint sponsor so I'm not sure how to take that. Thanks in advance.

Just to answer my own question for anyone who may come across this thread in a search, I called our immigration lawyer and she said that, yes, I would need to select myself as a sponsor even if I don't have the finances to actually sponsor her.
