I have the worst luck with flights.

I went "home" to my family in upstate New York for Christmas. Today, my mom and I drove the 2 hours to the airport to get there at 4am for my 5:55am flight back to Los Angeles via Chicago. After I went through security the flight status changed to delayed and I would miss my connecting flight. After waiting in line at the gate, I was told that I would either be stuck in Chicago until Monday or I could go home and try again Monday morning - the earliest they had flights available to LA (thanks, blizzard!).

So I'm back "home" with my family for a few more days.

Two years ago, I got snowed into Vienna and was told I had to wait 2 weeks to get back to London (I was studying in the UK). After a week, I found a seat on a flight out of Bratislava, so took a bus in a blizzard to Slovakia and then flew out to London (was delayed there for several hours first). A week after that, I tried to go home to the US and was snowed in at London for two and a half days (luckily I was with my now fiance at his house and not stuck at Heathrow like one of my friends)! I ended up only being home for 6 days before I had to go back to London, but then I got snowed in at JFK in NYC for 3 days. Oh, I also got a flat tire in the blizzard while trying to find a hotel when my flight got canceled and waited in the snow storm for 3 hours for AAA.

I can't remember the last time I've had a trip go completely as planned. I'm so used to it by now that I don't even get upset and just assume it'll happen.

Anyone else have similar luck or am I just unusually unlucky?

I am the USC/petitioner.

I've done all my flying in summer, so maybe that's why I only had one weather-related problem, when flying to attend my daughter's wedding in a remote northern California town. The flights kept getting cancelled because of fog.

Timeline

Back in Dec 2005 I had what I call my country western song week. On Saturday my horse died on Sunday my mom died. So I made arragements to fly to the funeral from southern California to Syracuse. On the flight there in Washington the connecting flight got cancelled because the latch on the door broke, they told me that they could get me into Syracuse long after the funeral, I demanded they get me there in time, the overbooked me on a morning flight. Made the flight thanks to someone taking the bump and got to Syracuse minus my luggage. Rushed home and went to the funeral in what I was wearing, they located my luggage the day I was leaving, so I picked it up in baggage claim and checked it in upstairs, the outbound flight got weather delayed, I made the connection by running through the terminal, got back to LA and the luggage once again was missing.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
