To those of you who have flown Royal Air Maroc - was it a good experience? On my last trip I flew Iberia and went through Madrid Spain. My experience in Madrid was not a pleasant one. I am getting ready to buy my ticket and I see I can get a flight from Miami to JFK and then Royal Air Maroc to Casablanca for about the same price. It sounds nice to not have to go back through Madrid. Just wondering what are your thoughts on Royal Air Maroc? Thank you.

I've taken ram most of the times I've travelled to Morocco. Out of 9 or 10 times I've used them 7 or 8 times. It was always fine. Not great. Not awful. The in flight entertainment never usually worked so I just always brought my own. It's not great but not horrible and the convenience of direct flight from JFK beats layovers in Europe.

Thanks. I don't mind anything about the in flight entertainment. I'm a nervous flier so I never relax anyway LOL. And I love the idea of not having to stop over in Europe. So as long as there is nothing terrible about them - that is probably what I will do. Thank you.

I flew each time with them, beides one trip where my flight to new York was delayed by five minutes. By the time, I got to the gate 15 minutes later to check in, the girls said nope sorry we cannot check you in. They said, all international flights needed to be checked in one hour prior to take off and no exceptions were made for us. I had to wait 10 hours to see if a flight on Air France was available as many missed their flights. However, I got to sit in first class lol and that was soooo awesome on Air France, very comfy and the rock lobster was yummy too.

Here is the only thing that irritates me with Royal Air. You can choose your seat via phone and Internet, but what they don't tell you is that seat isn't booked until you check in at the gate. My reserved seat was always taken upon checking in, as I always wanted an isle seat. So be prepared for that if you want a certain seat. Also, if your carrying on some luggage, make sure your right up front boarding lol, as theses people traveling to their destination have no problem taking your luggage space above you. On all six trips, I barely found a place to store my carry on luggage.

Overall, I loved the the fact that I had no layovers and it was a direct flight.

Thanks for the information. The flight I am looking at has a 4 hour layover at JFK so that should help in case my flight from Miami to JFK happens to be delayed. I'm still trying to decide. The only issue I can think of is it is winter and it could be some bad weather in New York. Oh well I do have to make a decision.

I don't like that about the seat because I always want an aisle seat and I don't like the fact that it is not reserved until you check in. But I can live with that.

Thanks again. Now i just have to make a decision LOL.

The food was good, it was the shortest trip, and I had four seats to myself to sleep the whole way to New York. One drawback - on another trip, which was from Casablanca to Portugal, they lost my luggage. The good news was it came to me within a couple of days of arriving home.

Just wanted to echo what everyone else has said: the convenience of a direct flight from JFK is great and I've never had any problems with them, but it's not great: no in-flight entertainment, mediocre food, mediocre service, etc.

My best experiences have also been with AirFrance with the layover in Paris, but it's longer.

I've had luggage issues once with Delta/AirFrance but got my luggage within 4-5 days. It sucked because I wasn't staying in Casa and had to travel back, but all in all, it wasn't too much of a hassle other than that.

I do not recommend Iberia. Ever. Ugh.

Thanks for the information everyone. I am probably going to go with Royal Air Maroc. I just don't want to go on Iberia again or go back through Madrid. It seems the convenience of a direct flight with no layover in Europe is worth it even if the flight is just mediocre. Almost time to buy my ticket!!!
