Medical validity

Hi all, just have a question regarding the medical validity period. I know it's valid for one year and you do not have to redo if its within 12 months of aos phase but does anyone know if it has to be within 12months of filing the aos or the actual aos interview?

If you're talking about the I-693 medical examination for AoS, it is valid for up to one year from the date of its completion (the date that the civil surgeon indicated on the form itself when he certified it) to be accepted by USCIS. Provided it is accepted by USCIS within one year of that date then it will remain valid until the AoS is finally adjudicated, as long as (1) you enclosed the I-693 together with your initial I-485, and (2) you have no class "A" or "B" medical conditions (other than class "B" conditions noted on the form).

Ok thanks so much. So if I file the fom within a year of my medical in Australia I won't have to redo the medical in the states?

Sometimes people submit their K-1 medical with their AoS and are fine; other times people get RFE'd for their medical and need to submit a new I-693 for their AoS. There seems to be no rhyme or reason other than the IO's particular feelings on the day he looks at your file.

The policy I linked is specifically for an I-693 medical conducted in the US.

So it is possible I may have to do the whole medical again even if it is within 12 months of my last one and I have no conditions? Do I get a civil surgeon to sign off on my medical I did in aus to send the form
