For me, American is not some thing that only lives in symbols, such as the flag, the pledge, the larger-than-life images of the founders (all of which are meaningless because they obscure the beauty with a bunch of empty phrases). No, America is the here and now, the blood spillled by those excluded from the political process, and the past which is rich and more than just a list of military victories.

My father fought in Korea and in vietnam and I stand by him for life and all he gave. I really dont think you understand this thing we call patirotism. You have the right to say good or bad about america. My dad helped give you that right. America is a PROUD country! Do you love your FAMILY? I love pizza and I love beer. I love my fiancee but it ain't the same. So when you ask if I love America, I embrace the Constitution as to what defines America and to that I love it, yes. I would never 'love' a President. I may be fond of him, his ideals and policies, but I think it's a bit weird to say you love America by loving the President. I'll leave that up to the First Lady.
