My wife has finally been here after a almost a year of waiting. She has been here for almost 4 months now, but hasnt met a group of friends to hang out with. Was wondering if there are any Salvadoreans in Dallas-Fort Worth area...any groups or anything? She's a wonderful person!

Yeah. The church idea is good. People from there are EVERYWHERE in Texas.

Out of 10 people, I work closely with 2. Any job should give her lots of opportunity.

Stopping at taco wagons should help her to just meet folks.

While shopping and eating out, the staff is very likely made up of a few--just ask.

She could also wear a shirt/jacket indicating her nationality, that would attract the attention of others and prolly get smiles and possibly help to open conversations.

On my husband's "side of the truck", I have a couple of stickers that we bought there to indicate his country. One is the flag and the other is a marketing symbol for the name of the country. It gets smiles and sometimes comments from other drivers when we are stopped at red lights.

My husband's country is a lot harder to find here. They exist, but not many. I work with the public and see/talk to between 30 and 40 new faces each day with enough time to usually get their nationality. The majority here are Mexican, Guatemalan, and Salvadorian, in that order. I am not sure if Indian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Nigerian, or US born citizen is next in line of most common.

If it's been a year in Texas, I am gonna guess that she is achingly shy.

Edit: I just read that opening post to my husband and he asked me the same thing--"What? They're everywhere!" This is the perspective of a Peruvian.
