Hi guys,

I have an interview coming up on 10th December, but I suddenly realised on the I-864 form my husband filled out (with the help of his attorney) that there was an error- it noted that he has 1 dependant child, and 1 person that he has sponsored on the I-864. Yet, he has no children and has not sponsored anyone before, and his tax forms are evident to the fact that he has no dependants in his household.

I was just a little worried that it might affect the progress things. Should I just point this out at my interview to the consulate, and bring a corrected copy?

Thank you very much, any advice would be much appreciated.

^ Thank you.

I am quite worried. The incorrect information won't affect the financial status, as the joint sponsors information stayed the same and his I-864 was perfectly fine. Just the attorney made the mistake when writing it all out on my husband's form.

Make the correction and take a new original with original signature to the interview.

Hi, I'm her husband from the U.S. I know it's silly to worry over these little things, but I just wanted to ask: would such an error (even if we corrected it by giving her the corrected form with my original signature) cause her problems at the interview or delay the processing of her visa? Even though it really wouldn't affect anything financially since it's my brother-in-law that's joint sponsoring (since he's more than eligible and all the documentation is 100% correct with him).

Can't say for sure but it should not be a problem. Your wife should be prepared with an honest explanation of the initial error. The attorney should provide that explanation for her.

I figured as much. It was just a clerical error, and the attorney apologized for it.

Then I would have the attorney provide a sworn affidavit attesting to exactly that. The visa applicant can then keep it in their pocket to be used only if there are any questions.
