I am a US Citizen applying for my husbands visa. we were married in October 2012, I recently received my copy of the marriage certificate so that I can 1- submitt the visa application and 2 change my name.

My question is will my name change pose any problem or is there a good way to handle the name change.

I have stated in the cover letter that I am in the process of changing my name to my husbands, I put my husbands name under other names used and sent a copy for the Social security administration of the name change on my ssn.

My next question is regarding my husbands employment. He lives in Jamaica. He basically has been freelancing doing seurity or cooking at private partiesbut has not had a traditional or regular employment for years. He also has never submitted a tax return in his country. Should I write an explanation of this for employment history? Does anyone know if there are any future issues with this.

Any help you can provide is appreciated or even direct me to where I can get answers. Thank you

Firstly, and to get the semantics out of the way, you are not applying for your husband's visa and you are not submitting a visa application. You are filing a petition on his behalf. He will apply for a visa only after the petition has been approved.

Secondly, regarding his employment and your specific question, "are any future issues with this?" The answer to that would be no, by the time he interviews, a CO at the Embassy will not care about his employment history.
