Hi,

I'm currently working for a fairly small company with around 25 employees, and in the last week the company was raided by the FBI after a year long investigation because one of my co-workers was arrested for an extremely despicable crime that I'm not really able to go in to. The FBI informed us that all employees were also investigated to determine whether there was any other involvement in the crimes that were committed.

So, my question is, will this affect my current removal of conditions petition that I've submitted, and was hoping to get a response to in the next couple of weeks? I'm assuming, considering I had no part in the crime that was committed it may just be an extra piece of information that may be provided to the USCIS, but that it may slow down the processing of my case somewhat.

It's not immigration's job to investigate. It is the police's job (FBI, local, and state police). They will probably not slow anything down. There is nothing to look into further if you have no criminal record.

04/04/2022: Check for passport cashed.

05/03/2022: Status changed to "The U.S. Department of State approved your application for your passport book. We're now printing your passport book and preparing to give it to you. You should receive your passport book on or around 05/09/2022."

05/05/2022: Passport Received.

05/09/2022: SSA Citizenship Status Updated.

05/25/2022: Naturalization Certificate received in mail.

Your police record shouldn't have anything on it about being investigated. Only if you are charged and/or convicted.

It will slow you down some what because the FBI name check search will produce a hit and then they have to manually follow up to get your info to USCIS. But once they confirm that you are not the bad guy it should go fine.

Only issue would be if the coworker used the business to commit the crime or was guilty of an act of treason or terrorism. That would only cause more research. But this would not deny your case.

They were using company resources to commit the crime, but it was not an act of either treason or terrorism.
