Hello,

I am starting the K1 filing process for my fiance while we are BOTH living outside the US and have two questions in regard to fiancee address info.

1. Question 14 of part B on the I-129F asks for the address in the US where your fiance plans to live. I don't know how to answer this because:

-- We are planning to move to San Francisco but don't have an apartment rented as yet.

-- My last address in the States was in New York, and my permanent address (my parents' address) is in Maryland so from those two facts I should send the forms into the USCIS processing center in Vermont.

-- But if I give an address on the West Coast (such as a friend's place in SF, or my sister's address in Oregon), will that cause problems in terms of introducing a different USCIS jurisdiction on the form?

What I'm also wondering about is how important this question is. In my case, since I really have no clue where we'll end up in the end, is it ok to put down, say, my sister's address and say we are planning to stay with her until we get our own place... and then once we find a place in California, send in the remaining paperwork from a new address? Or will that cause problems?

2. Fiancee's address abroad: his actual current address is my current address too. I would think this is obviously the one to use since it is his current address and shows we're living together BUT he thinks we should put down his permanent address for this since all of his Indian legal documents are made out to his permanent address.

Any advice on this would be most appreciated!!

The filing for the document should be to the service center having jurisdiction where you live (or where your last perm address was). I would use an address if you can where you can still receive mail. this will help as well during the address change process, if a piece of mail comes your way you can still get it. I do not know how important the "intend" to live question is so I would probably put the initial address where you will live temporarily.

As for your fiance I can see both. I am not sure it matters much. If I had to decide I would probably lean to the perm.

YMMV
