Hello everyone,

I'm new here and have a question. We are getting the final documents ready before the interview. I sent the i-134 already (to Colombia), but I did not include my tax return from last year. Do I absolutely have to? I graduated from college last year and worked different odd jobs throughout the year, but now I am a teacher (first year). So I get paid every month enough to support the two of us, but I don't know if that will cut it. If I did not make very much last year, but now have a yearly salary of 38,000, is that enough to be the sponsor, or do I need a joint sponsor?

I can ask my dad, but I would rather do it on my own and not have to get him involved. (I don't like sending someone else's finances off to another country...it's a lot to ask I think).

I hope that makes sense. Any recommendations are helpful. Thanks!

I included the last 3 year tax transcripts, and in fact the piece of paper they give you to organize your documents says specifically they want a copy of your taxes for 2010 (don't know why it didn't say 2011 which is why I included all 3 years). As far as your past income, they will consider more your present income. In my case, I included a cosponsor because my past income, which is shown on my tax transcripts, doesn't even come close to what I would need to provide. However my current income is more than enough. The first lady that took our documents, actually gave back my cosponsor papers because what I had included in mine was just fine. My fiancee got approved with just my financial information.

In short, you will need your tax return transcripts and you should bring a cosponsor JUST IN CASE however more than likely you will not need one.
