my wife's mother is having her visa interview in Bogota, Colombia in mid december. Her mother is going to be living with her other daughter (my wife's sister) in Idaho. my wife would like for her to come visit us in northwest Ohio before continuing on to Idaho. does the visa or any other other papers she has to show at the airport have residence in US listed anywhere? if so, does anyone know if there will be a problem at the airport if her immigration paperwork has Idaho, but her ticket says Detroit? she most likely will not be staying with us that long, and will most likely have her detroit to idaho reservation made by the time she leaves bogota. would that be sufficient? alternatively, the initial ticket purchase could be bogota-detroit-idaho and have a couple of weeks delay for the detroit-idaho leg.

also, how long does it take to get through customs/immigration on a resident visa ? is 2 hours between flights enough time, or will she be at risk of missing her connecting flight?

thanks

My wife's parents just arrived in Las Vegas a few days ago from the Philippines. They had POE in Hawaii. I purchased the plane tickets online and never had a problem with them having the address in the Philippines and moving to the US.

It doesn't matter what city her tickets say will be her final destination or if she's going to be somewhere else for a short period of time. The only thing they care about is her processing the sealed envelope the embassy sends her with her visa. That will have her permanent address, which is listed on the DS-230, because that's where they will be sending her green card and social security card.

As for her the two hours she has between flights, it depends on the airport, day and time of the week. MIA is a complete mess during weekends with all kinds of flights arriving and people being processed at POE that many times two hours is not enough. It's less busy during the week.
