Hi everybody,

I've filed an N-600K application to the Los Angeles Field Office for my daughter in August of 2010. On September 2010, we received an invoice from them acknowledging receipt of our application and fee ($460 at that time).

We called the call center on several occasions to follow up: November 2010, April 2011, May 2011. On those calls, we were told that they were not yet processing September 2010 applications.

We called again on Sep 2011 and by then, the call center determined that the application was now "beyond the normal processing times". Thus, they contacted the LA field office inquiring about our case. Two days later, we received an email from the LA field office saying that "We have determined that your case would have a better result if you make an appointment to visit your local office. To make an appointment you will need to go to our website and schedule an appointment using INFOPASS at http://infopass.uscis.gov."

We are not quite sure how to work out what that email means because we feel like we need more information than that before we hop on a plane.

Does anybody have the same experience and/or advise? What's the best way to proceed? I would really appreciate your help!

Thank you.

Must be unlucky like us, I-130 was misplaced by the USCIS for my stepdaughter during the AOS, as was the I-751 shifted from service center to service center. Then both my wife's and stepdaughter's N-400's were misplaced waiting for the oath ceremony.

When this occurred, first contact Feingold's office then Kohl's, our two good senators, that new guy Johnson was worthless for any help. Senator Feigngold, contacted Senator Kohl to help us as Johnson was our assigned senator. Amazing how quick the USCIS can find these misplaced applications and documents. For my wife, was emailed a special oath ceremony unheard of at the St. Paul office, just three days later with apologies.

In appreciation for my two senators, sent a check for $250.00 for their campaign, far cheaper than fooling around with an immigration attorney. As a reward, we received an invitation to dinners. Our senators really know about good food. We attended Feigngold's, wife got to meet him personally, but Milwaukee was too far for a meal.

Suggest you contact your senators office, be nice and friendly over the phone. Can find who that is on the net, look for your senator. Look in particular where that senator has an immigration section.

Hi, thanks for your reply. The only thing is that we live overseas so its not that easy for us to fly to the US. So we want to make sure that we would not be caught empty handed should they need more documents for us. Do we need to get a lawyer to help us follow up our case with the USCIS?

You can try to contact the office via mail, but the chances of getting a response ...

Do you have any idea what the problem with your application is? Do you have anybody in LA who can go instead of you? I guess, because you were using N-600K and also the information I got from another thread you are using the grandparents for proof of citizenship. Sometimes it is necessary to be present at the office to get the information needed.

I applied for N-600 for my kids (I adopted them, they were living with me already, they already had US passports) and it took over 10 months to get a the CoC. The office scheduled a special children ceremony (on a school day during the week!) and I asked about another possibility because I hate taking the kids out of school especially that my daughter had tests that day. I never heard back from the office, so I went to the ceremony alone (my other child was sick). The CoCs were pulled from the ceremony because of my letter, but I never heard anything from them! I got the CoCs at the USCIS office that day, just had to drive a little more and wait a little more because everybody who had a key to the CoC blank certificates was at the ceremony!

Wish you luck, but I guess you need to get in contact with the office that is dealing with your case!
