My wife (K-1) and stepson (K-2) will both finally get their SSNs.

My wife got her SSN six weeks after her POE, thanks to the slovenly government contractors that the Customs and "Burro" Patrol (CBP) employs to ineptly input their I-90 database information. That is old and boring news.

My stepson got his EAD/AP combo card yesterday. Today, after his college classes, I taxied him, a completed SS-5 application, his passport, and the new combo card to the local Social Security office to apply for his SSN. The process went without a hitch!!! According to the interviewer, he should receive his SSN in about 10 days! :dancing:

The next step is our AOS interview later on this month.

Good luck on your visa journey

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)

if'n you want -

go back to that SSA office, next business day.

if there were no hitches, they can give him the number (without a heavy card, which arrives in the mail)

but if there were any hitches (like, oh btw, this requires uscis verification, please wait up to 8 weeks)

then you'll know.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

As always, thanks Darnell.

In our situation, we are content waiting for the US Mail to deliver the stepson's SSN card to our residence, as the Social Security office interviewer said, "It should arrive in about 10 days from Maryland."

YMMV.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

UPDATE:

My stepson's SSN card arrived in Thursday's USPS regular delivery. We are quite content in receiving it in about 6 days from Maryland.
