London DCF - I-130 approval recieved FAST

Hello,

As seen in timeline below, we got really fast I-130 approval (just under a month from date of posting) with no NOA1 sent at all (or e-mail about receipt of application).

The approval letter has box 1 checked ("your petition to classify the beneficiary as an immediate relative of a USC has been forwarded to the US consulate at London. This completes all action by USCIS on the petition..."). So far so good?

One thing that has be concerned is that the box under File Number is blank (except for the letter A). Should we have been assigned a number? Does it matter at this stage?

The letter also says "The US consulate... will advise the beneficiary in writing within 5 weeks of the date of this approval concerning the next step on the process and issuance of the immigration visa".

All this look normal?

Thats perfectly normal. Your case number will come in a few weeks then when that arrives, you can book your medical and send back your DS-230 part 1 and DS-2001.

I am in the same boat - approved but waiting for case number. 2.5 weeks so far and nothing. Somewhat annoying as cant do anything without it.

Yes it is NOA2. My letter said they will make contact in 3 weeks. It may have changed a bit in just those few months though! Just wait the time it says on the letter.

It is 3 weeks for me as of today (although the mail hasnt been today yet- still hopeful) - but my letter said it will be within five weeks... grrrr

Things still moving pretty quickly.... Received the Case Number letter on the 12th. But I'm a little confused about 2 things:

1. This page seems to mean I should send the DS-230 Part I before I send the DS-2001 http://london.usembassy.gov/ds2001.html. We are waiting for a foreign birth certificate and police report from the beneficiary's country, so I don't think we're ready to send the DS-2001 yet. Should we wait and send both together once the documents are sorted? The DS-2001 says "Please send this form, along with Form DS-230 Part 1...." But they also say to send the forms "immediately". Any problem with waiting - possibly a month or two - until we receive those foreign documents?

2. Required vaccinations - the way I read the table in this document http://photos.state.gov/libraries/unitedkingdom/164203/cons-visa/iv018a_medical.pdf (p. 7-8), someone in her 30s needs only Tdap (combined tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis), and MMR (combined measles, mumps, rubella). Correct?

You can send the DS-230 any time you like as of now. You can send it by its self or wait until you're ready to send it with the DS-2001. It is really up to you.

As for the vaccinations, that is correct but you will also need the flu jab because of the time of year.

You could send them back now- in all likelihood it will be some time before you even get an interview date so the documents may be back then - or you could wait until you have all documents in hand before sending off. No harm in delaying- you have 1 yr after i-130 approval i believe.

2) correct. I am in my early 30s, and I got the combined tetanus/polio/diptheria, and the MMR stage 1(1month and 1 week respectively before my medical), from my NHS Dr, and at no charge.

The only shot i needed at the medical was a flu shot (£22), and that was only because the NHS wont even do it if you pay if you are not in their 'at risk' groups, ie, very young or very old. They told me to go to boots to get it- which i didnt really fancy, so just waited until the medical.

Thanks for the replies. It seems that since the ds-2001 is to notify them that everything is ready for the interview, I'll wait for the docs... though it also sounds like it really doesn't matter!

So, whether or not the beneficiary needs a flu shot depends on time of year? Any idea what months? Weird rule...

I believe the flu shot is October 1st to March 31st (or might be March 1st, i cant remember and i don't have time to research)

What the previous poster meant about delaying was you have a year before your case will be closed if you take no further action so no need to worry about submitting your forms in a rush.

Okay - great, thanks! As I'm sure a lot of people know, we never know where life is going to take us, so that 1-year rule is good to know about!
