great. another thing. on the I-865 form is asking for the effective date of change of address. what should I fill in? I haven't used my parents address since i moved into my house back in May and the instructions for the I-865 state that I should report the change of address within 30 days of the change. am I going to be in trouble? I'm seriously confused here.

Well I put the correct date I changed address for me which was Jan. 2012. Its now Nov. I just wrote an apology letter explaining that it was a mistake on my part to not send it sooner. No response yet from them since I just mailed it but I hope they understand an honest mistake. My phone numbers had not changed though our mailing address did. I have not filed for ROC yet.

Stop worrying and just do it. biggrin.gif

My husband and I moved twice after my AOS from our original address, A1. We didn't notify USCIS about our first change of address, A2, because we knew that place was temporary. We lived in A2 for almost a year before moving again to A3. We completed AR-11 online and mailed out I-865 two months after we moved in to A3 last year. We didn't receive any confirmation letter stating that they've updated our address in their records. I filed my ROC in January this year using our address in A3 and got approved without any trouble.

By the way, you are also confusing people here since you haven't filled out your timeline. Are you and your wife filing for ROC or AOS next month? See the bolded clauses.

even though my wife and I have lived in our new house since May, we have yet to notify USCIS for our change of address since the address she is registered with them is my parent's address. but since we're about to file for her adjustment of status within the next month, we should change the address. Are we going to be in any kind of trouble for not filing for the change of address when we moved into our house since the instructions state that the change of address should be filed within 10 days of moving? and is it better to change the address online through uscis.gov or just mailing the form AR-11?

So, should I just need to fill out the I-865 form for myself. and for my wife just put our new address on the ROC form? Or should I go ahead and send out the AR-11 for her too?

I'm having a problem with the online AR-11 for my wife. two things. it's asking if the current address is temporary, how long do I(my wife) expect to stay there. well, the current address is our permanent address, but it's not letting me leave that part blank. and the second part is asking if my wife isn't a permanent resident, when will her stay in the US expire? It won't let me leave that part blank either. what should i put there?

If your wife arrived her through K-1 and is still about to file for AOS, check the stamped date on her Form I-94. Use that date to answer the portion "If not a Permanent Resident, my stay in the US expires on" when filling out her AR-11. Somebody may correct me if I'm mistaken but the stamped date indicates the 90-day period from her arrival date in the US.

we're filing for the ROC. should I put the expiration date of her green card on the AR-11 instead?
