I am in Chicago area, looking for a domestic violence shelter from 2nd week of Nov, I tried calling to some shelters but they say they have no space available now and I should call them later, I am so afraid if I wont get a shelter till 2nd week where in the world I will be staying at. Anyone can tell me a shelter where I can go like walk-in type? I have VAWA approved but no place to live in, no idea about how and what benefits I can get on approved VAWA, dont have no job, no money and separated wants to file divorce. Completely blank what to do. Any advise will be appreciated.

I am sorry if I posted this in a wrong section.

the link is the National Domestic Violence hotline and they would be the ones who would be able to refer you. I don't know if Chicago has this but here where I live you can dial 211 and they will give you referrals to anything you need...food, shelter, clothing etc...Take care and God Bless.

assuming you are a woman, maybe I am wrong here is the women shelter list in Chicago, you have to choose a shelter for victims of domestic violence ok, not a shelter for homeless people. They have a different support group there/

try to call these 2 places as well.
