'Head's up to my fellow UK interviewees for November - my husband got a call from the US Embassy in London this morning telling him they were overbooked for November and tried to move his appointment a few weeks back! Apparently, the only thing that helped us to keep our date was the fact that I had already made arrangements to travel to London to attend, so they only changed our appointment time. Just wanted to give you all a head's up in case you get phone calls as well!' This interview is scheduled for 8 November.

I am in an absolute panic cos my interview is scheduled for 9 November, husband is coming over the States especially, hotel is booked night before and night after, I have given in my notice to my job so that I can attend the interview and leave the UK asap afterwards and to top it all I have signed a tenancy agreement on my house with a moving in date for the new tenant of 20 November!!

I have noticed two missed calls on my mobile, yesterday and today, saying 'unknown number' - now I am scared to death.

Has anyone else had the call? Can they just go ahead and change your interview if they can't get you on the phone??

This is terrible news for those of us who have turned in all the forms and are yet to hear of an interview. Does this mean we are looking at a December interview date??

My interview is this week Nov 1st, I will go bananas on the phone if they try to change it! I'm sorry to the people who have had it changed, it makes the visa process even worse than it already is.

I am really sorry to say that yes, I think you will be. They have apparently overbooked for November and are trying to put people into December instead!! Can you imagine?? You can always phone what I call the Extortion Line and ask if you have an interview - I waited for three weeks after my medical until I called and they gave me the date over the phone. Of course I thought I that was it then and I could make plans - but see my new post below .....

I posted this on the London Embassy Interview thread last week - but here it is again for easy reference. I am absolutely dreading a letter coming through the door staying despite the phone call, they have just rescheduled anyway:

OMG I got the call at work this morning on my mobile at 9.30 am! This rather unfriendly-sounding person person asked who I was when I answered and then said 'This is the London Embassy - I'm calling to reschedule your interview'!!! Thanks to the wonderful heads up on this site, I was ready for her and immediately launched into 'Oh I am so sorry that is simply not possible because ....... and gave her all my reasons. I know I sounded a bit hysterical and the lady then sounded very cross and fed up and said 'OK well just leave it then but they have too many for November'. I almost dropped when I put the phone down - but is it now ok I wonder? There are still two whole weeks to go - will I get a call from them again and this time not be able to keep my interview or will they send a letter? I have now emailed the Embassy again stating my reasons for absolutely needing the interview FOR THE DATE THEY SCHEDULED IN THE FIRST PLACE!

Three weeks after our medical will be next week. I really hate this limbo waiting yet again for a piece of paper. What's probably happening is the staff is leaving for Thanksgiving, and they are jumbling up the appointments.

Wow I never thought about that but I bet you are right!! OK everyone is entitled to a holiday but why give a person a date (after months of waiting and not being able to make plans) and then change it. Surely the department should be planning ahead if they know holidays are coming up? My interview (providing it goes ahead) will be 7 weeks after my medical. My friend Holly (on here) got her interview 5 weeks after her medical so its all a bit of a lottery, timing-wise. Let us know when you get your interview! You could try phoning the Extortion Line now but you might just be wasting money if they haven't scheduled your appointment yet.

I pray you will be ok - but you just cant count on anything for sure in this journey. It MIGHT be an idea not to pick up any 'unknown' number on your phone because if they can't get to talk to you, they wouldn't be able to get a letter to you in time. Good luck and let us know how you get on!

I do hope yours isn't moved... you've earned your spot. Good luck on the interview, and I hope it is done quickly for you.

Mine was actually 6 weeks after. I spent the longest 4 weeks of my life waiting for that appointment date! I was given two weeks notice.

My visa came 7 days after the interview at 8pm! Two hours after the latest time for delivery. So i would recommend to anyone going for their interview to pay the extra £6 (i think it was) for delivery before 12. That was one painful day of waiting! I thought it was never going to come. The driver told me he was not going to deliver any more visas that day and he was going home even though he had 10 more to deliver.

Even that may not guarantee that it arrives on time. My fiancé paid for the before noon delivery and it showed up a bit after noon today. Apparently the driver was stuck in traffic.

Yeah i know. But at least it will have more priority so it wont be getting held until the next day unless something out of their control happens.
