Hi y'all!

SO the NVC wanted hubby's business license (sent) and we also sent them a recent invoice as he is a self-employed videographer. When should we expect a "case closed" at this point (emailed it last night)? Any clue as to when I can expect an interview? And the biggie....once it reaches the consulate is it more or less pre-approved? or is it really still up in the air?

Montreal is a pretty straight forward consulate. Since we have no idea who you are or anything about your case, I'll assume there isn't any criminal records, issues with finances or any other sticky things like that. I'm also going to assume that the USA is already in the US.

While nothing is a guarentee, Montreal is a pretty easy consulate if you have a straight forward case

Good luck

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure about the straightforward. When you say the USA is in the US, do you mean if my husband lives in the US? The answer is yes.

I'm not sure how it will go due to the following: I was married 2 times before (don't know how much weight they put on that) And Hubby's last year salary was 29409 but was laid off in June of this year and we can now only claim 13000 current annual income (he is now a self-employed videographer) BUT I sold my house and we have a total of 157000 of combined liquid cash to show.

On my part, no criminal history, clean medical, certified to teach in the state of Texas (I applied and they gave me a license this year)

any thoughts?

Sorry, yes I meant the USC. Montreal is strict about domicile so if he is already in the US then that is not an issue

I was certified to teach in GA when I had my interview, it didn't matter, she didn't care. What matters is the income of the USC

I assume your husband knows about your previous marriages

I think you'll be fine! The interview is rather easy, our lady was laughing and joking with us

Good luck

For sure he knows about my previous marriages (but we didn't tell his mother about them because she is a strict catholic and don't think she will approve)I guess we'll cross that brigde once we get there, not looking forward to that. So you think that our liquid cash will make up for the lack of revenu?

Off topic, what do you want to teach when you go to TX? How is the teaching market there?

Off topic, what do you want to teach when you go to TX? How is the teaching market there?

While Gov Perry slashed the teaching budget 2 years ago and laid off thousands of teachers, they have now rehired all plus are in demand. I am certified in English but am also hoping to teach French

Our RFE at the NVC took 2weeks to review.

It was approved and case closed at the NVC on October 16. The supervisor there told me that the MTL consulate is booked for November interviews, but that we were listed for early December.

Sooooo, if yours takes 2weeks to review and approve at the NVC, my best guess is you'll be end of December interview, or (because of the holidays), early January.

Good luck.
