I dont know where to put this question but I have to ask I wanna take written exam for learner's permit do you have any idea 1.how long is the the validity of the learner's permit if I passed??

2.How's is the written exam and how many question??

3.Can i make appointment to schedule written exam or can i just walk in??

4.Can I apply CA id at the same day??

I will use my SSN and EAD...All info will greatly appreciated Thanks :)

You can schedule an appointment online if you don't want to wait forever-never in line. Bring all required documents with you. Here's the link; https://www.dmv.ca.gov/foa/clear.do?goTo=officeVisit&localeName=en

36 questions on the test. You'll have to read in the manual to know how many questions are about signs and how many are about general driving and traffic rules.

Yes you can as long as you bring required documents with you. When applying for state ID for the first time, please don't underestimate which documents are needed. These are explained in the California driver handbook on page 2 and 3.

Languages; look here to see if the manual is available in your language; https://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/pubs.htm

First You need to go to the DMV and pick the handle book for the permit...study it and get prepare for the test. The test is about 30 questions, and you fail either 5...i am not sure on that...but the learning permit is good for 0ne year and during this period you have three chances to take behind the wheel test...i passed on the 3rd. It is all about nervousness and following the rule of the road...stopping completely at stop sign...giving right of way and taking right of way....stop completely at red light look fro coming traffic in all direction before making a right turn...in california you can make a right turn on red light but you have to stop completely and see if upcoming traffic permit you to turn before taking the turn. So, just walk into the nearest DMV and pick the handle and study all the signal and go online and try the test before going in to take it...Search DMV california and get more info. Hope this will guide you.

My wife got her learners permit on the third try also. She found the book hard to read so we rented this DVD on Netflix and she passed the next time. Two of her friends have used it and both passed on their first time. Not the most interesting DVD but it does seem to get the job done and if you already have Netflix their is no cost to you.

I never drive in my whole life but when my husband tried to teach me how to do it, I was surprised! It's not that hard but I make it hard because I'm scared. Although i'm planning to go to a driving school to make it easier.

They do have it but it is only on DVD. Back when we did it streaming and dvds were together on the same plan. You could add dvd rental for one month and still get it pretty cheap.

What I did after I got the driver's manual, I searched for free and sample DMV test on internet before proceeding to the real exam. And it really helped me a lot since most of the questions are the same although they have different approach and wordings.

I passed on my first take but they still have to verify my papers before they can issue Learner's permit and they said, my exam is valid for 90 days. :innocent:

Update:

I took my driver's knowledge exam last Nov. 9 and they said they need to verify my status (again) before they can issue my Learners Permit. We called them again today but still no update from Raleigh about my status. Does it really take more than 18 days wherein I already have my SSN card?

Your permit will most likely say "check immigration status" so they put in a request to verify the information you've submitted. First time around(still with valid i94) it took less than a week until the permit came in the mail, second time around(with EAD) it took a little less than a month before it was in my mailbox.

I had the opportunity to check status online (pending print, mailed, delivered etc), I don't know if you can do the same.
