Traveling While Waiting for Green Card in Mail

We got married almost a year ago and were just notified of an interview on 11/27 for CR1. We have been putting off a honeymoon to save money and to avoid the possibility of scheduling a trip and then receiving notice that the interview would fall in the same time. We are now considering an international trip (not the USA or my wife's country ), where she would travel on her native Passport, during the weeks after the interview for a couple reasons:

1. assuming she gets approved immediately, she will becoming to the USA during a time (December) when no one hires and she will be sitting at home all day. When she is hired, most companies have a policy that you can't take vacation for several months, further delaying a trip.

2. If there is some delay in actually being approved or receiving the green card, we can be spending this time together instead of more agonizing waiting separate from eachother

3. When we return from the trip through turkey, we can travel back to the USA together

Our concern, is that if she is approved that she may have to be at home to sign for the green card shipment. Does the individual have to sign when the temp green card comes in the mail? Are there any other foreseen issues that may arise with us taking a trip the week after her interview?

Thanks for you thoughts

The US embassy will take her passport at the interview and return it with the visa attached to one of the pages. This can take a few days. The immigrant uses their visa to enter the US.

The green card is not produced until the immigrant enters the US. It is sent via regular mail to their US address. No signature is required.

Thanks, I didn't realize that they take her passport away at the interview. I guess we need a new plan

Or just a short wait until the PP is returned with the visa.
