When to Arrive at Embassy for Interview??

Hi all,

Hubby's interview is scheduled Monday, Oct 15 at 10:00am. Any thoughts or advice as to when to arrive? Can he arrive early and possibly be interviewed before his scheduled time? Any informations would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks

I got there at 6:50am and theres was nobody around. I had no idea where to queue plus Goulds wasnt open for me to drop off my electricals either. They opened about 7:10 and i was back at the embassy for 7:15 and was 15th in the queue and the queue formed REALLY quickly right after i got there. I was still the first I visa but the person directly behind me was the second I number.

If he is first, just stand in the middle of the two security buildings next to the posts and people will start gathering around there. He can get there for 7am if he wants even though his appointment is 10am. If he arrives first he will be seen first. They were up to I-909 by the time i left (9 people) at 9:15 so it wont matter a huge amount when he gets there.

Thanks for the reply. I've read and read through the interviews and not many people have offered both their scheduled appointment time and the time they arrived lol That's why I'm looking for comparisons of peoples' scheduled interview time and their actual arrival time so we can get a better idea of when to show up. I can't believe my love will be home forever in a matter of weeks!!

I arrived at 8-35am for a 9am appointment, and I waited in the queue for security for about 45 minutes. The queue was about that long for an hour or so after that, then gradually got shorter. The Embassy do ask that you don't arrive more than half an hour before your time, but as far as I can tell, people are just seen in the order that they arrive inside the building (after security), and the time you are allocated doesn't directly control your interview time. Whether they would prevent him entering before 9-30, I don't know.

My appointment was at 8:30. I was inside and sat down by 7:40. Called up first time at 7:58, called up second time at 8:50. In the courier queue by 8:55. Out the door by 9:15. (The courier queue was the longest part!)

Also, my visa is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, 7 days after the interview! That might also help a little with your planning

They start letting people through the security area at about 7.30 if I remember correctly and it is first come first served. I was in the queue just after 7am; my interview was scheduled for 8.30am but I was the second I number and I was seen before then. I was out just after 9am.

The US loves the ticket system. Whether it is at an embassy or the DMV or the deli at your local supermarket. Appointment times don't seem to mean much. You get a ticket and have to wait your turn regardless. If you arrive early or on time or even a bit late you'll probably still be waiting the same amount of time once you get inside and get your ticket.
