Interview experience in Norfol, VA

We had our interview this Friday in Norfolk VA and it was a little more stressful than I imagine It would be. The interview was schedule for 11:30, so we arrived at 11am but had to wait until 12:40 to be called in.

A lady called us into her office, she was polite and to the point. We were asked to raise our right hand and swear to tell the true. Next, she asked for our birth certificates, passports and my I-94. Then she started asking my husband for his biographical information. Actually she was affirming all the information like "you live at address XXX", "your name is XXX", "your spouse name is XXX", and we were just saying yes yes yes...Then she did the same with my biographical info and all the have-you-ever questions.

Next she asked me how we met and I described it briefly; she asked me what I was doing at the city were I used to live when we met and I said - studying. She asked when my husband and I met; when we moved in together and there I made a little mistake because I just said 2011 when I meant 2012. Then my husband corrected me right away. Then she asked very fast for the same question in between other questions three times to see if I could answer correctly (panic!) Then, she asked when my husband proposed, I said Jan 8th 2011; and asked when you moved in together - Jan 8th 2011; Same day? Yes. Do you wish to have your name changed? Yes, please.

Next she asked for all the documents I brought as supporting evidence, I gave her our joint bank account, lease, health insurance, phone bills with usage, and electric bill.

Then she explained ROC process and said that she would have to verify our documentation before approving. So I asked her: "So we won't know if we are approved now?" "No, I have to verify some information and if I need something from you, we will let you know"

I was really expecting to have a "You are approved" at the end of the interview but it didn't happen.

She dd not ask to see our pictures nor even for our certified copy of our marriage certificate and now I hate myself for forgetting to give it to her any way.

During the interview I was nervous and very tired from not sleeping the night before, from travelling to Norfolk and from having to wait so much to be seen. So at the end of the interview when I was expecting to be approved and found out I'll have to wait a little more, I just got even more stressed and upset. I burst in tears in the car just to come to the realization that it was Friday and I will have to wait for the next week to know if we are approved or not.

I am really fed up with all this process and can't wait to be finally done!

you are in a good shape , she told you that she gonna approve you, it's a matter of days

Well maybe they will update it within next week plus she explained the ROC process

I just checked my case status online and it's now under Decision. It says:

Decision

On September 28, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later.

Does that mean I am approved?

I know I am late to the post, but the process in general is stressful not to say direct interviews. The chances to make a mistake while interview [and I mean forget] is greater than most people expect. Typically and almost 80% of the cases called for interview do not get the answer on the spot, for some reason, even if everything is in order, the officers do not give you the answer on the spot..

All the process would definitely be harder without all your help. We are now just waiting for the letters of approval to come in the mail and for the Post DEcision Activities!
