Last week I got receipt notice for my i-485, i-130 and i-765 forms. I was about to quit from school since I thought I was in AOS. However, the advisor in my school said my f-1 status is still valid even if I get the receipt number!

So could I apply for CPT for my new employer and wait for my EAD card????

Thank you!!!!!

Presumably you could, but you should check with the office at your school that deals with such things.

re: F1 OPT/CPT - huh ? you should be talking with the DSO at yer school, as THAT HUMAN has the answer for you.

What we say here won't matter,

yer F1 status is solely dependent on what the DSO tells you, and the DSO will know all.

What's up ? Get back to the DSO, have a face to face talk. Don't use a telephone, don't email - just go and sit down, have a face to face talk with that Human.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
