Drivers License during AOS

Greetings,

I'm in the US (Minnesota) on an L1 status. I've married my long term (US citizen) bf and submitted all the relevant forms (I-130, I-485, I-797, I-864, etc etc). My EAD probably won't be through until Nov or Dec.

My L1 visa is expiring on Sept 27, as is my maximum stay. My drivers licence has a "status check" set for Sept 27.

Does anybody know what - if any - documents I can submit to maintain the ability to drive? My I-94 is due for expiry in 2015. Is that enough?

The DMV people I've talked to on the phone haven't been very specific.

You should be able to. I got mine while on F1 and they just looked at my I-94 so I think the date on there is what they go by.

So I called the DMV back (a third time) and spoke to somebody else, and they said that all they need is the I-797 and they can extend it.

So - to all you Minnesotans on AOS - an I-797 is enough to keep you driving.

Damn! Guess my dh and I have to renegotiate "designated driver" responsibilities!

You can because your I-94 is not expired. And i was working on my driver licence too but my I-94 was expired and they said not until i change my status. SO you are 100% safe.
