Hi

We filed DCF in Delhi on 9th July. Got our interview date for end of Sept via mail no physical Packet received at our home address. Below are coupla questions though -

I am a US citizen providing AOS and I dont currently work in US. I have an offer letter from a US organisation which my husband plans to show.

Also regarding domicile, I haven't been staying in US since the past 4 years. I have a letter from my brother stating that we will be staying with them. Apart from this don't have a house there etc.

I am flying off on the 25th, a day after my husband's interview and will be sending all the necessary documents from US later in a month or so.

Do you think we will be Request for more Evidence? We wont be rejected right?

Is there a way we can request to extend the interview date or we should go ahead with the documents we have?

Pls help...

thanks!

Lets say if they need anything to complete your case, then they will issue 221g and will require to submit the doc at VFS along with 221g letter. Once you submit the doc, then they will review, and make the decision.

Regarding AOS, like you mentioned you are not working, but you have a job offer letter, but I am wondering, how are you meeting the AOS requirement? If you dont meet with income requirement, then they would require co-sponsor.

Please don't skip the interview date even you are missing some documents. At the time of interview, if they need anything to complete your case, then they will give 221g to submit those doc. It is easy process like this.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for your prompt response.

Yea I dont meet the AOS requirement currently. We were hoping to get the co sponsorship but that aint happening now. Hence will be self providing the AOS.

We too are hoping we get a 221g.

How much time are we given before we get back to them with documents? Does the interview get re-scheduled or we have to walk in once we have the docs?

Thanks!

Self providing the AOS? Do you mean, you would be using your husband's income/assets for AOS?

If they issue 221g letter for missing doc, then you have to submit thru VFS only. Timeframe is 1 year to submit the missing doc.

Well yea we thought to provide his assets but I have been told those assets only make sense if they can be converted to liquid cash.

Cant we go with the current AOS (showing no assets)? What happens in that case? Then I send the income stub and domicile later for AOS.

His assets should be movable. Like convert into cash. may be, best option to transfer that money in States under joint account.

US Consulate is pretty strict with AOS. You can go ahead with current AOS, but if Consulate is not satisfied with current AOS, then they would require co-sponsor.

Best option is that try to find a co-sponsor in your family/close friends.

It would be hard to predict if it would be enough for US Consulate. It all may depend up to your job, whether it is a permanent job, etc etc. They are pretty strict with AOS requirement. I am not trying to scare you, but just want you to be alerted!

Hmm I agree... The thing is wen a person like me has been out of the country for some years now.. Hw do they expect us to be comfortably settled in a job so soon..

Anyways we are ready to fight this out even if, it means to be away for 6 months or so...
