I always do my taxes with TurboTax, so past years' taxes are always available for saving as PDF files. I have some questions regarding signatures.

Do I need to sign my past returns, and if so, do I include the date? If so, what date? Today's date or April 15, 2010 (for example)...?

I have a past return filed jointly with my first husband. Obviously he's not here to sign, since he passed away. Would a transcript from the IRS be better?

14-Sep-2016 Contacted USCIS again about case (email said we should hear from them by Oct 6)
22-Sep-2016 Letter from USCIS dated 9/20 explaining the Service Request is currently being reviewed by an officer.
22-Sep-2016 Letter from USCIS dated 9/20 with Interview appointment for both of us for 28-Sep-2016
28-Sep-2016 Interview, both of us, separated, not hard, 10 min. each, result---said hubby will get GC in about 10 days
26-Oct-2016 *****STILL WAITING*****
02-Nov-2016 Card is being produced!!!
08-Nov-2016 Card is mailed
10-Nov-2016 Card is Delivered!!!! YAY
CITIZENSHIP: 

Biometrics appointment for 2020-03-27 has been cancelled until further notice as all field offices are closed because of COVID-19.

***NOA dated 12/10/2020 USCIS stated they are able to reuse previous Biometrics***

Interview was easy. My hubby's Oath Ceremony is scheduled for February 25th. I can't watch >sad< but happy he is getting his certificate!

They prefer transcripts because all the info is there and no other supporting docs are needed.

Ok, I ordered 2010 and 2009 from the IRS website, but 2011 isn't available as a transcript, probably because I filed for an extension and then sent to the IRS ITIN Operation. But then they refused the certified, stamped and signed copy of hubby's passport that he had made there in Kosovo at the issuing agency. But alas, no good, and the ITIN people can't tell me why because hubby signed the W-7 form and they can only tell him. So when I fly to see him in a few days I'm bringing all the info and he can call them and tell them to explain it to him, and with me there to help, hopefully he can understand them. He has some other supporting documents that I am going to hand-carry home because we can't depend on the mail from there.
