Russian post and immigration packages

So far this is unrelated to my situation (I-751 ROC waiver), but I am very curious.

Russian post is well knows for being slow an unreliable, especially in regions. For example, I mailed a letter on July 1 to Ryazan, and it is still not delivered. My previous letter to the same address, according to postal stamps, was in the local post office for a month before it was delivered. EMS (express service) steals packages and takes a month to deliver when it was supposed to be 3 days. That's considered normal. Ok, maybe nor normal, but not surprising.

Dear Russians, how do you deal with it? Is there any way you can make sure you will get your immigration package? Tracking numbers? Anything?

I am beginning to think it is worth filing from within the US just for this reason.

I personally used FedEx to send important documents to my wife and the US Embassy uses Pony Express.

Both work very well.

I never had problems with mail there, but I lived in Moscow. If you are very worried about it, FedEx is the way to go.

I use Dimex - less expensive than DHL or FedEx, and so far haven't had any problems with them. But still hand delivery remains the best way in RU )))))

So you're saying the packages from the immigration services and the embassy will come trough Pony Express, right?

Of course there are ways to deliver Really Important Stuff except Russian Post, if you are sending it yourself, but I thought the embassy uses Russian Post and it's impossible to get them or the Immigration services to mail your package through something that they don't normally use.

Looked at their website (dimex . ws, right? ). Can't find an option to mail something from or to US.. only between former USSR countries

I used them to mail packages to US and Switzerland... have no idea why they are not offering choices of more countries on their website. But here what it's said about their services.

Express delivery:

- express delivery of correspondence and parcels throughout the Russian Federation

- express delivery of correspondence and parcels to any place of the world

maybe call their office to get the rate and to confirm they still are doing it? the last time I mailed with them was in December.

Embassy now uses Pony Express. They have not used Russian Post anytime recently that I have heard about, at least not for anything important like visas!
