I'm currently a student in California - up to my eyeballs in student debt. Since I attend school full time it's been difficult to find a job that will work around my constantly shifting hours (my school schedule changes every 8 weeks). I live with my mom who is also a student working towards her PsyD. She's in an internship right now which is unpaid and leaves no time for HER to get a part time job either. She's on social security/disability for long standing medical issues. As far as I can tell, there's no way we can meet the 125% poverty level of $18,913 a year. My father is out of the picture, my friends are students. My husband has several job leads for when he finally gets here but I also read that his finances aren't counted in the total income.

I need some suggestions on what to do. How can a mother/daughter student duo get one British man into the country?

Find someone to co-sponsor or find some kind of work making at least the required amount. As your timeline says you were married in May, you likely have several months ahead of you waiting before needing to show your finances. You have time.

Another option that I have read about (but will leave to others to discuss in depth) is having your husband potentially sponsor himself. If he has a substantial amount of money in the bank, this may be an option in London. Something to consider, if it's still possible.

Yep, need to cats the net wider- distant family, neighbours, highschool friends, church family etc.

If truly nothing works, either put immigration on hold til you graduate and find a job, or put studying on hold for a year or two and find a job now.
