DS-260 Questions and Making Visa Payment- Mexico

Hi everyone,

In Mexico and getting ready for our interview in 2 weeks. Three questions come to mind:

1) Can anyone confirm for me what the beneficiary ID is that's required on the DS-260 form? Some on visa journey have said that it's the case number minus the CDJ, while others have said that it's the invoice ID which is the birthday of the petitioner.

2) One question asks if I (as the petitioner's husband) will be immigrating to the US. I'm a US citizen, so I won't be immigrating, although I will be going with her. So I check "no," correct?

3) Especially for DCFers in Mexico, can the visa payment be made online or is it paid the day of the interview. At the US visa center website I've only found information about non-immigrant visas (MRV), which are required in order for the interview to be made. Of course, that's not the case with immigrant visas. I've made our appointment and haven't paid.

Thanks!

We just received a CR-1 through DCF. We filed in Mexico and it took 45 days from filing I-130 to the appointment.

The beneficiary ID for the DS-260 is the case number minus the CDJ.

You will be immigrating to the US with your wife, since you have to have a FM-2 to file DCF.

The payment for the visa will be made at the consulate on the day of the appointment.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for your response and congratulations!

I'm not sure I follow you on the matter of immigrating. Of course, Americans here in Mexico will have a visa in order to file DCF, but how can you immigrate to the US if you're a US citizen? You're not immigrating. You're just returning.

I had an FM-2 when I first filed the I-130, but since then I've become a Mexican citizen.

Thanks for the feedback on the beneficiary ID and the visa payment. That clears it up for me. But the matter of immigration still doesn't add up for me.

We answered yes to the immigration question. We had no problems with getting the visa, as you can tell with our timeline.

The DS-260 question regarding family members that will be immigrating with the applicant is NOT referring to US citizen or permanent resident family members. You can probably answer it with reference to the US citizen and they won't have a problem because they'll figure it out, but the most correct thing is to leave that blank if there are no other sponsored immigrants/foreign citizens intending to immigrate.

Long story short, we have a complicated case. We've been at this for nearly 5 years. You can read our story here. I highly recommend our attorney Laurel Scott, as well as attorneys Laura Fernandez and Lizz Cannon .

Filed I-130 via CSC in Feb 2008. Petition approved June 2008. Consular interview in Mexico, Oct 2008, visa denied, INA 212a6cii. We allege improper application of the law in this case.

2012, started over in Seoul: I-130 filed DCF on 7/2, I-130 approved 8/8, Medical at Yonsei Severance 11/20, IR1 appointment in November 2012.

CRBA filed 1-3-13 at Seoul for our daughter
