Hi guys,

in the form, it states that my taxes from the previous three years are required. My concern is: for 2009, I only worked for half a year (I started my phD program on August 2009). So, I made less than the required poverty line. However, for 2010 and 2011, I am well above the poverty requirement. I did not need a co-sponsor for the K-1 because I am making enough and I have my savings that combine a total income of over 40, 000 a year. Would I need a co-sponsor because the low income in 2009?- I have a steady job and I have my employment letter saying so. I am a little confused about how much the 2009 tax return will affect my application.

Thank you guys!

MERIC

You should be fine with your current income. It sounds like you make more than enough. I would not worry about a thing. As long as you can prove you are now making the required money.

Best Wishes.

I Looooooove my baby Lyn.

No. Your current income is more important than your past. However, they sometimes may take it into consideration such as if you just got hired at your current job. Having been a student won't be a negative factor. No joint sponsor needed.

As long as you're above poverty guidelines, you don't need to use your assets.
