Hi Everyone.

I am a US citizen planning to marry a Canadian Permanent Resident with Philippine citizenship. Her birth certificate will come from the Philippines of course, but what about her proof of eligibility to marry? Does that document come from the Philippines, or from a Canadian authority. Everything else seems pretty straight forward. I appreciate any help on this.

Canadians do not have to submit "proof of eligibility to marry"... I believe that the Phillipines has something called CENOMAR - but someone else can answer that better than I can.

Basically you need to BOTH write letters stating that you are free and willing to marry within 90 days of entering the united states. This is called Letter of Intent. You can find an example here:

Second form from the top of the list.

I'm not sure if it is gonna be the same but I'm also a Filipino citizen but a Singapore resident. I also didn't know whether the embassy here in Sg will ask for a cenomar. When packet 3 arrived, yes, it listed cenomar as one of the requirements AND it must be delivered direcly from the NAtional Statistics Office to the embassy.

My advice is to wait for instructions from embassy via the packet 3. Don't order the form yet coz it might have to be sent directly from NSO to embassy.

Good luck on your journey!
