Howdy,

First off, want to say thanks to all of you who work hard to maintain this website and these forums. VJ has been an incredibly helpful resource, we got our I-129F through quickly without any RFE or issues.

Our I-129F was accepted and my fiance just received her packet from the Stockholm embassy. I've been starting to put together my I-134 information but I wasn't sure if I need a co-sponsor.

Here's the facts:

  • During 2011 I was a full time university student and I worked a paid internship
  • My 2011 tax return shows gross income of about $7k. Below HHS poverty guidelines. I didn't file a tax return in 2010 or any prior years.
  • In May 2012 I graduated university.
  • In August 2012 I started a full time job with annual salary of $40k.
  • I have about $10k savings in the bank.
  • I have no student debt, credit card debt, mortgage, car loans, or any other type of debt.
  • Neither of us have children or any dependents, so only a two person household.
  • My parents have offered to let us stay with them while we get on our feet during the AOS process.

Should I ask my parents to co-sponsor? I'm sure they would but I'd rather they didn't have to do the leg work of getting bank/employee statements and what not.

My current income is double the 125% poverty guideline figure for a two person household but I'm just concerned they'll have a problem with my 2011 tax return...

Thanks yall!

You will be fine. You will turn in last years tax transcripts, along with letter of your current employment (see here for examples), and copies of current paystubs. Also, in I-134 instructions under supporting evidence part B, gives guidelines for letter from employer.

USCIS looks very closely at current income.. So you will be fine.

Good luck
