Hello everybody, I filed a petition for my mother and it has been approved. Now Im on the Affidavit of Support part which gives me a lot of confusion. I'm not working right now but I have a small income from our rental home. My husband and I always filed jointly for our Income Tax return. My husband will be my joint sponsor . My question is are we both going to submit Form I-864 Affidavit of suppport or just my husband. Thank you

You, as the main petitioner, fill out the I-864 and your husband fills out the I-864A.

Here are the instructions for the form: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864ainstr.pdf

Good luck!

Hi Gegel and everybody! What if I decide to just use my husband's income for the affidavit of support since its more than enough for us. What Form should I use? Thanks again

you still have to file the i864 as the petitioner, as said you file the i864, your husband as your co-sponsor and household member will file the i864A.

you cannot avoid filing the i864, since you are petitioning your mother. the petitioner is always the sponsor, income or not, because you have to prove to the government that your mother won't become a public charge.
