Please help with our questions on vaccinations. I am using the http://www.visajourney.com/content/uscis-vaccination-requirements link along with what I read on the i-693 form (report of med. and vaccination). What we need to know is 1) Which vaccines are absolutely required before entry permission is granted?, 2) Do they give some/all of these vaccines that are missing at the medical?, 3) Any vaccines that have to be given with time apart- either as a series or not at the same time as another vaccine and 4) Any other suggestions or things I might have failed to address. Also, I am listing what appears to be the required vaccines with their names translated so that I know what to tell my fiancee. Please add to that list if I left something out: Mumps (papera), Measles (sarampion), Rubella (rubeola), Polio, Tetanus (tetano), Diphteria (difteria), Pertussis (pertussis)-this is whooping cough, right?, Type B influenza (gripa clase B), Hepatitis A and B, Varicella (varicela), Rotavirus, Meningitis?? and Pneumoniae?? Some of these I don't remember being vaccinated against- for example, they just let us get chickenpox as kids. We are trying to get things right the first time so as to spare the expense and time of doing something again-we plan to schedule the medical in about 2-3 weeks so we want to be ready...so far, no problems up to the NOA2 by following the advice here. Thanks again for your help!!

You are not required to get any vaccinations for a K-1, but some vaccinations are required for adjusting status once in the US. So, to avoid having to see a civil surgeon in the US for an I-693, you should get the vaccinations at the medical and have them marked off on the DS-3025. The main problem people have with not getting their vaccinations completed and marked off on the DS-3025 at their K-1 medical is that finding a civil surgeon in the US that will not insist on giving another medical and overcharging can be a difficult task.

The only ones required for AOS are MMR, Tdap/TD, varicella(unless you had the chickenpox) and flu shot(only during flu season). You only need the first shot in a series to file for AOS.

I see the requirements from the cdc site, but then on Colombia's visa journey page it says this about vaccinations: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Colombia&cty=Bogota My fiancee is in not in Colombia, but the vaccination requirements stated are much more extensive than what is indicated on the cdc site. Also, the Bogota page was updated late May 2012 and the date for the CDC site is 2009. Please clarify. Thank you

That list isn't more extensive than the list from the CDC as to what is required for AOS. MMR is a combination vaccination for measles, mumps, and rubella all in one. Tdap includes TD and pertussis, though just TD also covers the requirement. Zoster is not required(http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/laws-regs/vaccination-immigration/revised-vaccination-immigration-faq.html#zoster). The link I posted from the CDC lists all those vaccinations listed on the Bogota info page here on VJ, BUT it shows them by age group. Not all the vaccinations are age appropriate for an adult. That list from the CDC shows which vaccinations are required depending on your age. Go by your age when looking at the CDC list to see if it states yes or no for you personally.

It is dated 2009, but it is still up to date as there have been no changes since that was published. VJ members update those consulate info pages here on VJ.
