My fiance is Haitian, but is living in the Dominican Republic on a student visa. On our I-129f, we put his address as where he lives in the Dominican. However, at the bottom of the form where it asks about the embassy you want to go through, we put Port-au-Prince, Haiti. On Friday I called the Department of State to see if they had forwarded our case to the embassy yet. They said yes, they sent it to Santo Domingo on Wednesday. I asked her why they sent it to Santo Domingo when he is a Haitian citizen. She said it doesn't matter what country he's a citizen of, it matters where he lives. So I started looking at the requirements for the interview in Santo Domingo. One of the things that is required is a National ID Card (cedula). I'm worried because my fiance doesn't have one. He's not really a resident of the Dominican Republic, he's just there studying. Does anyone know if he will actually need a cedula since he is not a citizen or a resident of the Dominican? I'm really hoping he doesn't need it because I don't want to have to try to get our case transferred to Haiti.

Not 100% sure, but I can inquire. I can give the government site to obtain a cedula.

Thanks! I called the embassy this morning to ask about the cedula and they said he just needs a photo ID from Haiti. I'm guessing his passport would be fine for that.

Thank you,but I put in a expedite request to transfer our case to Haiti and I'm so bless that it is now in Haiti it only took a few days for us and most people say it takes months, maybe because I put expedite.

I'm praying for us all
