Hi, this is Gemma Pabello and I am here to ask about my k1 visa application. It's been over 5months already. We applied last March 21,2012 and got the Application recieved notes on March 23,2012 and after that until now no response. The current date is August 23,2012 which is over 5 months already. They said that it only took less than 5months. How come we have not receive any approval yet? Is this normal? Please I need an advice. Thank you.

Yes, very normal. 5 months is just an average time frame, not a hard set deadline.

Right now it appears the current wait is between 6-7 months with some going quicker, some going slower.

P.S. I don't know who "they" are that said that, but less than 5 months has not been the average for awhile now.

If you are processing through Vermont, then you have several weeks left. If you are processing through California, I would check up on it.

:time: If you fill in your timeline, you can get an estimate of when you might receive your approval based on the statistics of other members here. By the way, you didn't file at the 'Texas Service Center'. You filed at a Lock Box in Dallas, TX. Your petition either went to Vermont or California after that. You should see this on your first NOA(receipt). You will be putting that into your timeline. If your petition went to Vermont, you can expect to wait a little longer at least. Scan the forum threads for the last few weeks and/or use the search function to easily find many discussing this matter. Judging by what you said and my own timeline, your estimate will probably end up being around the end of September if your case is at Vermont, but this is only an estimate.
