I asked about the Democrats extremist position on abortion...... no response.

From the 2008 Democratic Platform - not sure what is so "extremist" about this.

Choice

The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to choose a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay, and we oppose any and all efforts to weaken or undermine that right.

The Democratic Party also strongly supports access to comprehensive affordable family planning services and age-appropriate sex education which empower people to make informed choices and live healthy lives. We also recognize that such health care and education help reduce the number of unintended pregnancies and thereby also reduce the need for abortions.

The Democratic Party also strongly supports a woman’s decision to have a child by ensuring access to and availability of programs for pre- and post-natal health care, parenting skills, income support, and caring adoption programs.

gimme a question thats answerable.

Okay, what is the rationale for the GOPs absolute anti-abortion platform? While I understand that the party wishes to take a stance against abortion, why does the party feel it appropriate not to provide for obviously required exceptions - such as the exception in the case of rape or incest or the health and life of the mother?

i honestly do not know. the exceptions you mention are common sense. i'm quite sure those and most likely more exceptions would be included in any legislation they attempted to put forth regarding abortion.

You would think they were common sense. Allowing such exceptions would greatly upset Mississippi, the most conservative state in the nation. Republicans are trying to close the only abortion clinic in the state.

Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant ( R), in defending his decision to sign a bill that could shut down Mississippi's only abortion clinic, told conservative radio host Tony Perkins on Tuesday that Democrats' "one mission in life is to abort children."
"We passed that bill and I think you'll see other states follow, and when that happens, at least these fly-in abortionists are going to be regulated under the state laws of the Medical Procedures Act here in the state of Mississippi as they should be across the nation," he said.

The bill in question, HB 1390, requires that all physicians who perform abortions in Mississippi have admitting privileges at the local hospital and be board certified in obstetrics and gynecology.

While all of the physicians at the one clinic in the state are currently board certified OB-GYNs, only one of them has admitting privileges at a local hospital. The other two physicians can't get privileges because they live out of state, and the owner of the clinic has said it can't operate with only one doctor on staff.

Why do they live out of state? Because they are constantly threatened by RWNJ's.

The "common sense" exceptions are not common sense to one Paul Ryan and many other Republicans who have pushed and voted for legislation to outlaw abortions even in the case of rape and incest. The record doesn't support what you stipulate.

So why is Scott Brown apparently concerned about it?

Scott Brown is concerned because he is a pro-choice Republican. The language doesn't leave any room for Republicans like Scott Brown. That's an issue if you are running for re-election in Massachusetts. Mitt Romney was a pro-choice Republican when running for the US Senate in that state back in the 90's and when running for governor 10 years ago. His stance on the issue has since "devolved".
