Anyone here who has travelled recently from Manila to the US (or your fiancée)? Can you recommend and possibly give contacts of the travel agencies you used to book your flights? For those who did book online, what airline did you guys get a good price on?

Been looking through the whole VJ site for some recommendations but some dated back 2010. I was wondering to get recent experiences.

Thank you in advance for sharing! :)

I've read that a few people have used St. Raphael Travel to get a first time immigrant discount (be sure to read the small print about taxes because they're not added to the advertised prices). I've looked at Delta for my wife's upcoming flight, and found around $700 for her one-way ticket from Manila to Portland, Oregon.

hi! i don't think you really need a travel agency. you can just find out what airlines have flights from your city/state to manila and vice versa, check their website(s) to compare prices and flight dates/times and book online once you've decided. the earlier you book, the cheaper the tickets are but there are exceptions as in any other matter.

you probably already know this but i just would like to add that make sure your fiancee already has the CFO sticker on her passport before you buy her any plane ticket. she'd be barred from leaving the country without that CFO sticker and will have her ticket cancelled without the possibility of a refund or rebooking, unlike in normal circumstances.

I will book a direct non-stop flight for my wife on PAL to LA and pay the extra. My wife has never flown and the stress from her first flight and the stress of all the unknowns will be vastly decreased if it is a direct flight. I will drive or fly to LA to meet her. I have found that booking online is easy with any of the agencies(travelocity, priceline, ect). I will be checking into the agency giving the first flight discount. Thanks for that info.

Anybody have the issue with buying a ticket from the Philippines with a credit card if the card holder isn't flying? I keep getting told that my fiancee won't be able to fly unless the CC used to buy the ticket is hers and she has it on her when she checks in.

The person traveling needs to have a copy of your passport and your credit card. Trisha has done that several times flying domestically and internationally with no issues.

When flying PAL, if you buy the ticket online then the person flying needs the CC used or a photo copy of the CC used to buy the ticket. This link explains process about halfway down the page.

Good luck.

Shawn,

I have seen post where USC purchased a Delta Ticket from the US and on their website, but then had to go to a nearby airport and show it ID and CC to Delta Ticket Counter and they then released the ticket for his Fiancee to fly here with it. I suggest search using keyword "Delta". Good Luck to you. Mr Pangga :)

Yup i agree with dale . I was a reservation agent for an airline. you have to present your cc at the nearest airport so CC will be removed.

If you're from CA, call 562-869-1181 and ask for Charrie. She's from Long Beach. She's been my agent for my last two trips to PI :) Just ask for quotes and not obligated to book right away but once you agreed then she'll need your CC and send you the itinerary
