Name change questions; not the usual.....

Hi all!

Long time lurker, and first time poster here. Lots of great information here. I am currently waiting for AOS interview, early next month.

As the topic suggests I have a few questions about changing my name. My names on my Indian passport (GC, and US Drivers License) are FN, MN1-MN2, LN. The problem is that MN2, is my real first name, MN1 - middle, and FN LN are my 2 last names. In any case, I want my name to be reflected as MN2 MN1 and LN.

The first question I have is: as a permanent resident would I have to change my name on my passport first, before filling out the form I-90 for replacement of GC?

Would I have to go through the courts (here in MN) to get a name change? That would set me back about 320 bucks. If I change my name on my Indian passport (a long winded process), does that let me change my name on my GC without having to go through the courts here?

Also, difference of name on passport and GC - a big issue?

Any advise would be much appreciated. I am sure someone has been in this situation in the past and can shed some light on it!

Adjusting from an F1 visa. But I do not think that has any bearing on the outcome. Or does it? Once you are a LPR.. can you change your name, is the question.
