I'm just starting the k-1 visa process with my fiance, and I have a few questions regarding her name. She is Chinese and her official name is Congyi, however I always called her Aimee, should I address her as Congyi on my I-129F and other forms?

Has anyone had any experiences similar to this that they would like to share? Thanks

I think there's a section asking for "other names used" or similar. Use her real name for the actual form questions though, as in the ones that are on her passport.

use the name on her passport for all government forms.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I see, I have written letters to her and also exchanged emails back and forth and I didn't call her by her official name. Will the letters/emails with her unofficial name be a big deal if I stated her "other names used?"

Also how should I select and present our exchanged emails and instant messages as proof of an ongoing relationship?

legal name on all forms.

there's a block for 'other names used' but these are typically (emphasis on typically) other LEGAL names.

Aimee is not her legal name - she has no legal document with 'Aimee' on it, at all.

Sure, you could list 'Aimee' in the 'other names used' block, as it's allowed.

Good Luck !

Sorry I'm just a bit confused, the 'other names used' block is just for legal names only, so no nicknames and whatnot is not allowed. So would the emails and instant messages with 'Aimee' be valid evidence? Or would I have to find other evidence with her legal name?

I'd document it under the other names used section. I'm sure the consulate in China is fully aware of the nickname culture over there x

My full name is Catherine but no one has ever ever called me that and fiance knows me as kate or kitty and all the relationships evidence we submitted (cards, emails etc) had kate on them. As obvious as it should have seemed to USCIS that those are common nicknames for catherines, we made reference to it under question 18 of I-129f. My fiance wrote something like 'I met Catherine (known to me as kate or kitty for short) on June 14 in New York.... etc etc' and also something similar on the cover letter/index we sent with the package.

Shouldn't be a problem, good luck!

Agree with kitty... Catherine I mean! Lol

I'd definitely document it as Asian nicknames are pretty much never any way similar to their real names! I think they just chose them randomly :) consulate will get it though, just let them know :)
