My family and I are thinking about relocating to the Florida area. My husband has been offered a really good job but I'm not comfortable moving until I get a job too or at least a few maybe's lined up. Does anyone out there know what the job market is like in Florida for women?

I have spent few years in Florida before moved out few years ago just before housing market collapsed. Which part of Florida your husband is getting a job?

ok, Miami is a major highly crowded city of Florida with a big tourist attraction. I lived close to Tampa. Depending upon which type of workforce industry you and your husband are in, Miami may or may not have enough work opportunities based on both of yours skill sets. FYI, cost of living in Miami is pretty high but Florida does not have any state income tax.

I'm honestly just looking to move to Florida but not sure as to what area to move to. Since his job has several locations I'm sure he can relocate anywhere in Florida. We are def looking for low cost of living, nice schools for our kids and good paying jobs.

Going back to your original question about job opportunities require more details about your skill set to find out if Miami is the right fit for you.

I think you can get a job in Miami for Clerical and Admin area. I recommend to read this forum: http://www.city-data.com/forum/miami/ and post your questions there which will be answered by Miami residents to help.

Since I have not lived in Miami so I can't answer pay related question in that area won't misguide you as well I think that forum is your best friend to find out local people's feedback about your all questions. Good luck on your move! Make sure your husband is negotiating relocation and salary package according to the cost of living in Miami

Ive lived in Miami, the SWFL area, Tampa area and currently in the Orlando area (my job industry bounces me around a lot)Your skills will find you a job....no worries there, but if you are looking for a great place to raise the kids, I would definitely look at the SW Fl area (Naples, Fort Myers)or the Central Florida area (Orlando and north...not south)Stay away from Kissimmee(its gotten bad).

Central Florida will offer you the best options as to a family friendly atmosphere(Its happy land!) and you will never run out of things to do...ever!

I live in Seminole County. It is a short commute to work (Orlando) and it has an excellent school system.

I relocated from Miami in Jan. and I must say that although I grew up there, I just could not stomach raising my daughter there. I was miserable but, it is a mecca for latinos, so if you feel more comfortable around hispanics at every turn, it might suit you quite well. I personally like more of a diverse culture, although I am hispanic myself.

Greatschools.net is a great resource for info and ratings on schools. It even offers parent reviews. I always start there when I have been offered a relocation.

I live in Florida and it really all depends what type of job you are looking for The only bad thing about florida is that the pay rate is very very low.
